At around 04:20, police received information about an explosion outside a house in Limassol. Police officers and Fire Service crews rushed to the scene and found a fire burning at the front of a car owned by a 37-year-old woman. The vehicle was parked outside the residence.

Explosive device caused the fire

Initial examinations showed that an explosive device triggered the fire. Officers sealed off the scene, and investigators will carry out further checks during the day as part of the Limassol car explosion inquiry.

Limassol CID (TAE) continues to examine the case to determine the circumstances and possible motive behind the attack.

Second vehicle fire in Zakaki

In a separate incident at 04:13, the Fire Service received a call about a fire in a vehicle parked outside its owner’s home in Zakaki, Limassol district. The Monovolikos Fire Station responded immediately.

The owner managed to put out the fire before firefighters arrived. Firefighters inspected the vehicle and removed the battery terminals as a safety measure.

The fire and heat caused extensive damage to the front part of the vehicle. Authorities will investigate the cause together with the competent services, and officers have not ruled out a possible link to the Limassol car explosion.
