Limassol: 65-year-old locks herself in, threatens to blow up house with gas

Date:

Police surrounded a home in Limassol’s Agios Ioannis area Tuesday morning after a 65-year-old woman locked herself inside and threatened to blow up the house with gas cylinders.

The dramatic standoff began when bailiffs arrived to enforce a court eviction order. The woman, facing extreme distress, refused to leave and warned of self-harm, according to her son.

Specialised negotiators rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area. Officers are attempting to de-escalate and persuade the woman to exit safely.

The incident remains ongoing. No injuries have been reported.
