A conference titled “Redefining Colonial Heritage: Environmental Impacts and Cultural Response” will be held by the Larnaka 2030 organization on January 23 – 25. The event will host a total of 60 professionals in the fields of arts and culture.
The organisation noted in a press release that “the conference is being held in collaboration with the cultural NGO D6:EU, based in Cyprus, and takes place as part of the Larnaka 2030 effort to establish broad networking with cultural institutions across Europe and third countries”.
More specifically, Larnaka will welcome 60 international artists, producers, cultural institutions, and museums from the participating countries to engage in discussions around colonial heritage and environmental management, as well as urgent global challenges related to decolonisation.
It is further added that within the framework of the CONTESTED DESIRES: Constructive Dialogues (CDCD) program hosted in Cyprus, Larnaka is emerging as a common space for dialogue and exchange on the critical issue of Europe’s colonial heritage, in relation to ecological sustainability and cultural creation. “Our shared path as a European family requires such discussions, which can lead us to a mutual understanding, enriching our perspective on justice and the equitable coexistence of diverse communities”, Larnaka 2030 notes.
Larnaka 2030 is an organisation aiming to organize and manage Larnaka’s candidacy for the European Capital of Culture (ECoC) 2030.
