Wildfires continue to rage across central Greece, with major fire fronts spreading from Boeotia into Attica, destroying homes, forcing evacuations and stretching emergency services.
The largest fires remain in Xiromi and Kalamaki in Boeotia, where extensive areas of land have been burned and multiple homes have been destroyed.
According to the Fire Service, three major fire fronts are currently active near Porto Germeno—one inside the pine forest, another moving towards Agia Paraskevi, and a third advancing towards Mytikas.
Firefighters in Boeotia are concentrating efforts north of Domvraina and near Livadostra, where evacuation orders have been issued.
Early Sunday, firefighters and the Hellenic Coast Guard safely evacuated 12 people by boat from Porto Germeno beach as flames approached the coastline.
Throughout the night, emergency alerts ordered residents to leave Psatha, Mytikas, Porto Germeno, Domvraina, and several other nearby communities.
Strong winds have severely hampered firefighting operations, preventing 25 aircraft from carrying out water drops.
More than 325 firefighters, supported by 18 forest firefighting teams, 92 fire engines, volunteers, military engineering units and heavy machinery, remain on the ground battling the flames.
Two active fire fronts near Aigio
Further west, firefighters continue battling two wildfire fronts in the Aigialeia region following a blaze that broke out near Nerantzies.
The active fronts are located near Neos Erineos and Arravonitsa, where 96 firefighters, 30 fire engines, eight firefighting aircraft and three helicopters have been deployed.
New evacuation alerts in Attica
Authorities also issued a new 112 emergency alert ordering residents in Agia Paraskevi, Kryo Pigadi and Agios Nektarios in Attica to evacuate towards Vilia as the fires continued to spread.
Emergency services remain on high alert as strong winds continue to fuel the rapidly moving wildfires.
