Larnaca mosquito control operations armed with drones

Date:

Larnaca Municipality is strengthening its mosquito control operations with the use of drones, allowing teams to reach difficult terrain where conventional spraying methods are particularly challenging.

On Friday, 16 October, the Municipal Health Service carried out targeted aerial spraying using a drone in a selected area identified as a mosquito breeding site.

More drone spraying planned across Larnaca

According to the head of the service, the municipality intends to continue using the technology, as other hard-to-reach areas have been identified both within Larnaca and in its municipal districts that require similar interventions.

The use of drones is expected to strengthen mosquito control efforts, including measures targeting the Aedes aegypti species.

Prevention and monitoring remain priorities

Larnaca Municipality is placing particular emphasis on prevention, early intervention and systematic monitoring through programmes carried out daily by its mosquito control teams.
