The Kremlin today accused Kyiv of carrying out a “terrorist act” following the assassination of Russian Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov in a Moscow street. This response from the Russian presidency comes more than 24 hours after the attack, for which Ukraine has claimed responsibility.
“It is obvious who ordered this terrorist act. This once again demonstrates that the Kyiv regime uses terrorist methods,” said Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, referring to Ukraine.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that Moscow would raise the issue of Kirillov’s assassination at the United Nations Security Council meeting on 20 December. She stressed that all those involved in the killing would be found and punished, adding that Moscow would not be intimidated.
“We see that the Kyiv regime has once again claimed responsibility for a new terrorist attack. All these SBU failures (referring to Ukraine’s intelligence service) and the mad Kyiv regime are nothing but tools manipulated by the Anglo-Saxons,” said Zakharova, using a term Russia employs to refer to the United States and Britain.
“These are the ones who benefit most from Kyiv’s terrorism,” she added.
