JetBlue emergency landing after mid-air incident

A JetBlue Airways aircraft travelling from Cancun, Mexico, to New Jersey made an emergency landing in Tampa, Florida, after an in-flight incident caused several passenger injuries, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the airline.

The JetBlue Airways Airbus A320, operating flight 1230, had departed from Cancun bound for Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey. The aircraft was diverted to Tampa International Airport, where it landed at 2:19 p.m. on Thursday (local time, 8:19 p.m. Cyprus time).

FAA investigation underway

The FAA has launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances and causes of the incident.

According to JetBlue Airways, the Airbus A320 experienced a sudden loss of altitude under yet-unknown conditions. Upon landing in Tampa, medical personnel were waiting to assess passengers and crew members. Those requiring additional medical attention were transported to a local hospital.

The airline did not specify how many passengers were injured.

Aircraft under inspection

The aircraft has been taken out of service for inspection, and JetBlue Airways confirmed that a thorough investigation will be conducted to identify the cause of the JetBlue emergency landing.

“The safety of our customers and crew members will always be our highest priority, and we are ensuring that everyone involved receives proper care,” the company said.
