Israel confirms killing of IRGC spokesman in airstrike

Date:

The Israeli army confirmed that it killed Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) spokesman General Ali Mohammad Naini in an overnight air attack, in a further escalation of the ongoing conflict with Iran.

Iranian state media had earlier reported that Naini died in a missile strike carried out by Israel and the United States, before the Israeli military issued its own confirmation.

Senior IRGC figure

Naini served as spokesperson and deputy head of public relations for the IRGC, one of Iran’s most powerful military organisations. He had held the position since 2024 and was considered a key figure in the corps’ media and strategic communications operations.

Rising tensions

His death comes amid intensifying strikes between Iran and Israel, with both sides targeting military and energy infrastructure across the region. The killing of senior Iranian officials in recent weeks has highlighted the widening scope of the conflict.
