IRGC: Only “Iran friendly” ships will pass Strait of Hormuz

Date:

Iran restricts maritime passage

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have announced that the Strait of Hormuz remains closed, warning that vessels linked to US and Israeli allies will not be allowed to pass. Reports indicate that three cargo ships have already been forced to turn back when attempting to navigate the designated shipping lanes.

Strong response warned

Iran has stated that any such attempt to transit the strait will face a “strong response,” echoing previous positions that only “non-hostile” ships coordinating with Iranian authorities may pass. International reporting suggests that Tehran is effectively attempting to impose control, or even toll-like measures, on this crucial maritime corridor.

Civilian areas cautioned

The Revolutionary Guards also warned civilians in areas with US military presence to evacuate immediately, claiming that American forces use civilian locations and that Iranian strikes would target US positions “wherever they are.” The warning signals a potential expansion of Iranian attacks across the Middle East, heightening fears around bases, ports, and other facilities with American personnel.

Israel targets Iranian naval capabilities

In response, Israel announced strikes on a key production centre for missiles and naval mines operated by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated the facility was used to design, assemble, and store advanced missiles for launch from cruise launchers, submarines, and helicopters, aimed at both mobile and stationary naval targets.

The IDF highlighted that the site represents the main hub for Iran’s naval missile and mine development. Israel described the strike as a significant blow to Iran’s naval production capabilities, following previous operations targeting senior naval leadership. Additional Israeli strikes reportedly targeted ballistic missile production facilities near Tehran and launchers and missile depots in western Iran.
