Tehran signals new battlefield moves
Iran has issued a fresh war warning, saying it is ready to introduce “new cards on the battlefield” if conflict resumes with the United States and Israel. The statement comes just two days before a two-week ceasefire between Washington and Tehran is set to expire.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Tehran would not negotiate under pressure, stressing that preparations had been made over the past two weeks to reveal new military capabilities if needed. He made the remarks in a post on X.
Diplomatic tensions remain high
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also criticised the United States, accusing it of undermining diplomatic efforts while leaving the door open to possible future talks.
He pointed to what he described as provocations, threatening rhetoric and continued violations of the ceasefire – particularly attacks on Iranian commercial vessels – as major obstacles to progress. The comments were made during a phone call with Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, according to Tasnim news agency.
Araghchi added that Iran would carefully assess the situation before deciding its next course of action.
Uncertainty over new negotiations
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said Tehran has not yet decided whether to engage in a new round of negotiations with Washington. No talks have been scheduled so far.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that a delegation would be sent to Islamabad for discussions ahead of the ceasefire’s expiry. According to a source cited by German media, members of the delegation are expected to depart soon.
The first round of talks in the Pakistani capital ended without results, raising further uncertainty over the diplomatic path forward.
