Iran-US tensions have intensified following new statements from senior Iranian political figures, further deepening concerns over stability in the Gulf region and the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
The President of Iran’s Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, warned that Tehran “has not even begun” its confrontation with the United States, signalling a potential further escalation in already strained relations.
In a post on X, he stated that Iran-US tensions are becoming increasingly unsustainable for Washington, arguing that the continuation of the current situation would be “unbearable” for the United States.
Accusations over maritime security
Ghalibaf also accused the US and its allies of endangering maritime and energy security in the region. He suggested that their influence in the Middle East is gradually weakening, reinforcing the narrative that Iran-US tensions are shifting geopolitical balances in the Gulf.
The comments come amid heightened instability around the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical energy transit routes. Recent exchanges of fire in the area have already raised international alarm over the risk of broader regional escalation.
Analysts warn that continued Iran-US tensions could further disrupt shipping routes and global energy markets, given the strategic importance of the corridor.
Diplomatic uncertainty continues
Despite diplomatic efforts in previous months, no breakthrough has been achieved between Tehran and Washington. The latest rhetoric suggests that Iran-US tensions may continue to escalate in the absence of renewed negotiations or de-escalation mechanisms.
