Limassol Police have stepped up preventive security measures in high-risk locations across the city, according to Deputy Police Director of Operations Lefteris Kyriakou.
Enhanced patrols and inspections
Speaking to the Cyprus News Agency (CNA), Kyriakou said that following the outbreak of conflict in neighbouring regions, the Limassol Police are implementing a specific operational plan. This includes increased patrols and inspections in areas with large gatherings, such as shopping centres, hotels, the marina, the casino, and the old port.
Protection of sensitive sites
The measures also extend to locations linked to Israeli and Western interests, including businesses and schools operating in Limassol. He reminded that the city’s Jewish synagogue has been under security protection for some time.
Continuous readiness
“We remain in continuous readiness and act proactively, with increased measures and patrols to ensure public safety,” Kyriakou added, emphasising the ongoing vigilance of Limassol Police.
