The illegal employment crackdown in Larnaca resulted in the arrest of 34 individuals during a coordinated inspection at a construction site earlier today.
Members of the Aliens and Immigration Service, working together with officials from the Labour Inspection Service of the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance, carried out the operation as part of ongoing actions aimed at combating illegal and undeclared employment.
Arrests made during operation
During the inspection, authorities identified a total of 34 individuals of various nationalities who were arrested on offences related to illegal employment.
Two of those arrested also face additional charges relating to illegal residence within the territory of the Republic of Cyprus.
Employers issued penalties
Investigations conducted following the inspection found that the arrested individuals had been employed by eight separate persons.
Authorities subsequently issued out-of-court notices to the employers for undeclared employment offences.
The illegal employment crackdown forms part of wider efforts by authorities to tackle unlawful labour practices and strengthen compliance with employment regulations.
