Hot weather forecast as temperatures set to rise after 37C

The weather forecast will remain mainly clear on Wednesday, with temperatures reaching 37C inland before a gradual increase towards the weekend.

Seasonal low pressure is affecting the region, while winds will generally remain light to moderate, strengthening temporarily along the southern coast during the afternoon.

Temperatures reach 37C inland

Wednesday will be mainly clear, with winds initially variable and light at 3 Beaufort. They will gradually become south-westerly to north-westerly, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, temporarily strengthening to 5 Beaufort along the southern coast in the afternoon.

The sea will be slight.

Temperatures will rise to 37C inland, 31C on the western coast, around 33C on the remaining coasts and 27C in the higher mountains.

Clear conditions overnight

Wednesday night will remain mainly clear, although locally increased low cloud will develop at times.

Winds will be north-westerly to north-easterly and south-easterly along the northern coast, remaining light at 3 Beaufort.

The sea will be calm to slight.

Temperatures will fall to around 22C inland and along the coast and 14C in the higher mountains.

Slight rise towards the weekend

Thursday, Friday and Saturday will remain mainly clear, with periods of locally increased cloud.

Temperatures are not expected to change significantly on Thursday.

A gradual slight increase is forecast for Friday and Saturday, taking temperatures above the seasonal average as the weather forecast remains largely settled.
