Historic FIBA EuroBasket trophy to visit Cyprus in the coming days

Date:

The historic FIBA EuroBasket trophy will arrive in Cyprus in the coming days as part of its official tour ahead of Europe’s premier basketball tournament, which this year is co-hosted by Cyprus, Finland, Poland, and Latvia.

According to an announcement by the Cyprus Sports Organisation (KOA), the trophy once held by legends such as Nikos Galis, Panagiotis Giannakis, Argyris Kambouris, Fanis Christodoulou, Michalis Kakiouzis, Dimitris Diamantidis, Thodoris Papaloukas, Vassilis Spanoulis, and others, will be in Cyprus throughout the second half of May 2025.

The trophy’s first public appearance will take place at the “Tassos Papadopoulos – Eleftheria” indoor arena on the morning of Wednesday, 14 May, during the finals of the school programme “FIBA EuroBasket Goes to School”.

The trophy will also be on display in shopping malls in Limassol, Nicosia, and Paphos, giving the public the opportunity to see it up close and take photographs with it. Specifically, the FIBA EuroBasket trophy will be at Kings Avenue Mall in Paphos on Saturday, 17 May (11:00–17:00), at MyMall Limassol on Sunday, 18 May (11:00–17:00), and at MyMall Limassol and Nicosia Mall on the weekend of 24–25 May, respectively.

Over the next two weeks, the trophy will also be taken to historical landmarks and other public locations around Cyprus, to be announced shortly.

The EuroBasket trophy will visit all four host countries before arriving in Riga, Latvia, where in September the new European basketball champion will be crowned.

In Cyprus, the EuroBasket games will be held between 28 August and 4 September at the Spyros Kyprianou Athletic Centre in Limassol. Tickets are available for matches featuring Spain, Greece, Italy, Georgia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Cyprus.
