Greece submits OPEKEPE plan to the European Commission

Date:

The European Commission has confirmed that the Greek authorities have submitted an updated OPEKEPE action plan for the operation of the Integrated Administration and Control System (IACS), committing to respond within two months.

“We confirm that the Commission has received the updated action plan for the Integrated Administration and Control System (IACS) from Greece,” said Commission spokesperson for agricultural policy Balazs Ujvari in response to a question from the Athens–Macedonian News Agency (ANA–MPA).

He added that “the Commission will now assess whether the plan is sufficient to address the identified shortcomings” and will “inform Greece in writing of its assessment within a maximum of two months from the date of receipt.”

The submission follows the Commission’s request in early August for a revised and improved plan, after stating that it was “not fully satisfied” with Greece’s previous response regarding OPEKEPE’s operations. The deadline for the updated action plan was 4 November.
