Georgian suspect admits only drugs involvement in Demosthenous murder

Date:

Limassol CID investigators took statements from two Georgian men arrested in connection with the murder of businessman Stavros Demosthenous.

Journalist Loukas Spatharis intervened on the “Protoselido” show. He noted that one of the suspects said in his statement: “He was in the area where police found the motorcycle, the spot where investigators believe the perpetrators fled after abandoning it.” The same suspect also placed himself there in a specific BMW car, identified through CCTV footage.

However, this suspect said he was there to buy drugs, according to Mr Spatharis. “He describes the roads he remembers driving to his friend’s house,” but claims no link to the Demosthenous case.

The other suspect refused to answer questions. Mr Spatharis said he “will speak in court,” exercising his right to silence.

As a result, Mr Spatharis added, “nothing new has emerged in the Demosthenous murder.”

Police still consider both key to the case. “One places himself in the van used for the murder,” Mr Spatharis stressed. The second suspect “arranged to be in the Agios Tychonas area and picked them up in his father’s car, transporting the two from the spot where they left the motorcycle to the house of one of the suspects,” to switch vehicles.
