Four Blue Flags awarded to Larnaca municipality beaches for 2026

Date:

The Municipality of Larnaca has been awarded four Blue Flag beaches as part of the Cyprus Blue Flag Awards 2026 ceremony, held on 11 June at Nissi Beach.

The event was hosted by the Ayia Napa Municipality in cooperation with the national Blue Flag coordinator and CYMEPA.

The ceremony was held under the auspices of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Minister Maria Panayiotou.

Four Larnaca beaches recognised

The internationally recognised Blue Flag distinction is awarded to beaches and marinas that meet strict criteria relating to water quality, cleanliness, safety, organisation, environmental management and public information.

For 2026, the award was granted to 56 beaches and two marinas across Cyprus.

Larnaca secured four Blue Flag beaches for:

  • Finikoudes Beach
  • Kastella Beach
  • Mackenzie Beach
  • Giannades Beach

The awards recognise the municipality’s ongoing efforts to maintain high standards in coastal infrastructure and services.

Boost for tourism and local community

The Municipality of Larnaca congratulated all municipalities and communities that received Blue Flag distinctions this year and thanked everyone involved in maintaining and enhancing the quality of the city’s beaches.

Officials noted that the award-winning beaches remain important landmarks for both residents and visitors, supporting tourism while offering high-quality services, safety and a positive seaside experience.

The latest recognition further strengthens Larnaca’s reputation as one of Cyprus’ leading coastal destinations and highlights its commitment to environmental stewardship and visitor satisfaction.
