Cyprus Veterinary Services have confirmed two additional foot-and-mouth cases, bringing the total number of infected livestock units to 44, according to official updates.
New infected units
The newly affected units include a herd of 16 goats in Dromolaxia and a cattle herd of 193 animals in Meneou, both located within the Larnaca infected zone.
Veterinary Services continue epidemiological investigations, sampling, tracing, and laboratory testing to monitor the outbreak.
Vaccinations and culling operations
Vaccination efforts have reached 98% of cattle units and 65% of goat units across Cyprus. The second booster vaccination round has already begun.
Culling operations continue in Livadia, with approximately 21,000 goats already euthanised to contain the virus.
Crackdown on illegal movements
Authorities are maintaining coordinated efforts to detect illegal animal transport. So far, four cases have been identified, and the relevant legal measures are being implemented by Veterinary Services and the Police.
