New infections detected in two livestock units
New foot-and-mouth cases were recorded on Sunday in two livestock units in the Dromolaxia-Meneou area.
According to the Veterinary Services, infections were identified in one unit housing 3 to 5 goats and sheep, and in another unit with approximately 20 animals. Both units are located within the already designated infected zone.
Authorities on alert ahead of Easter
Officials note that, in view of the Easter period, inspections are being intensified at slaughterhouses, butcher shops, and retail points of sale.
The measures aim to safeguard public health and prevent further spread of the disease during a period of increased meat consumption.
