The police helicopter “Achilleas” carried out its first trial landing on Thursday morning at the newly designated helipad at the Presidential Palace.
The Presidential helipad, created in the parking area near the Press Office hall, was tested as part of efforts to upgrade the operational capabilities of the Cyprus Police.
Five-minute reconnaissance flight
Members of the Presidential Guard and the helicopter crew conducted a short five-minute test flight to assess and familiarise themselves with the landing area.
The exercise formed part of preparatory procedures aimed at ensuring the safe and effective use of the newly reactivated helipad.
Upgrade of operational capacity
The area previously used as a helipad has now been reactivated to support enhanced security and emergency response operations.
Authorities said the move is intended to strengthen the readiness and mobility of police air services operating in and around the Presidential Palace.
