Strong firefighting forces from the Department of Forests were mobilised on Wednesday afternoon to Agia Anna in Larnaca after a fire broke out near Achnarka forest, in a riverbed.
The Agia Anna fire was detected at 2:58pm by a Department of Forests lookout post, prompting the immediate deployment of significant firefighting forces to the area.
Blaze close to residential area
The fire is burning close to a residential area, raising concerns as firefighting operations continue.
Aerial firefighting assistance was also requested to support efforts to bring the blaze under control.
The fire is burning in a riverbed near Achnarka forest.
