New revelations are coming to light regarding the femicide in Volos where a 40-year-old man murdered his wife in front of their children.
The 40-year-old has a serious criminal record and has been known to the authorities since 2013, when he was arrested for forgery and illegal entry into the country. In 2018, he was convicted of false testimony, in 2019 he was arrested for drug possession, while in 2020 he served a four-year sentence for participation in a criminal organization and drug trafficking. In 2024, he was arrested again for administrative deportation .
According to information, two months ago he was hospitalized in a psychiatric clinic in Volos, after a suicide attempt in his own home. Neighbors’ testimonies speak of frequent arguments between the couple.
Facing trial
omorrow, Tuesday, August 26, the 40-year-old confessed murderer of the 36-year-old mother of four in Volos, who was arrested on Saturday afternoon after the brutal crime, is expected to appear before the investigating judge to apologize for the murder of his 36-year-old wife.
It is worth noting that on Sunday morning he appeared before the prosecutor, where he requested and received a deadline for today at 10:00 am , while he is being prosecuted for intentional homicide against a victim of domestic violence.
At the same time, the spousal murderer declared himself unrepentant, with the first words he allegedly said to the police, who arrested him in an abandoned plot of land 200 meters from his home, being: “She deserved this. She was cheating on me.”
In the meantime, an order was given by the Prosecutor’s Office for an urgent and priority social investigation to be carried out by the Social Protection Department of the Municipality of Volos for the couple’s minor children, in order to determine within the week who will be assigned their custody.
The chronicle
Specifically, during the altercation, the 40-year-old, according to information, managed to stab the 36-year-old with a knife. She tried to escape towards the entrance of the apartment building, where she received a second blow, and then fell against the glass of the entrance at 17 Konstanta Street, which broke, injuring her.
The unfortunate woman was taken to the hospital by ambulance, having – according to the same information – her senses, however she ended up on the way.
The indications are that she was attacked with a sharp object, which led to her fatal injury. Immediately afterwards, the man abandoned the residence and fled running towards Gladstonos Street, It was not the first time that an incident of domestic violence had occurred. The 36-year-old had kicked the 40-year-old out of the house, but later accepted him back.
This new crime has caused horror and intense concern in the local community, as it is added to the macabre list of femicide cases that have shocked Greece in recent years.
A neighbor of the couple describes exclusively to MEGA what he saw immediately after the horrific crime.
“I saw the window broken and the woman lying in a pool of blood, in an area of about forty feet. A nurse tried to take her pulse, but she had none. A little later I saw her child holding her neck.”
“I saw a man running here, holding a sharp object in his hands. He was heading in the opposite direction, shouting ‘they’re chasing me’ and he was barefoot .”
Why did he kill her?
According to information from the police editor of the newspapers “Ta Nea” and “To Vima”, Vasilis Lambropoulos, the children spoke to the Hellenic Police and reported that there were major family problems , mainly financial.
Their father, as some of the children said, had problems with drugs and lately had been obsessed with the idea that his wife was having an extramarital affair.
