The average total rainfall in the free areas of Cyprus from 1 February to 9:00 am on 19 February reached 81% of the usual monthly level, according to preliminary data released on Thursday by the Meteorological Department.
Heavy rainfall recorded in Platania
The most significant rainfall in the past 24 hours was recorded in Platania, reaching 22.4mm. Overall, the average total rainfall from 1 February to 19 February was 65.8mm, compared with the usual February total of 81.6mm. The rainfall for the last 24 hours averaged 3.8mm.
Regional rainfall highlights
The heaviest total rainfall during this period was in Prodromos, with 189.3mm, representing 130% of the February average. In the past 24 hours, Prodromos recorded 7.4mm of rain.
Platania followed with 188.9mm, equivalent to 128% of the normal February rainfall, including 22.4mm in the last 24 hours. Pano Panagia received 126.9mm, or 110% of normal, while Stavros Psokas recorded 126.6mm, corresponding to 94% of the monthly average.
