Fatal road accident in Larnaca leaves 75-year-old man dead

A fatal road accident occurred this morning in Larnaca, claiming the life of 75-year-old Rodotheos Skordis, a resident of the city.

According to Christodoulos Konsolos, spokesperson for the Larnaca Police Directorate, the incident took place at approximately 07:25 on Tuesday, 11th February. A private vehicle, driven by a 75-year-old man, lost control under unknown circumstances, crashed into a parked vehicle on Veria Street, and overturned. The Traffic Department is investigating the exact causes of the accident.

Emergency services, including an ambulance and Cyprus Fire Service personnel, arrived at the scene and extracted the unconscious driver from the vehicle. He was transported to the Accident and Emergency Department at Larnaca General Hospital, where on-duty doctors confirmed his death.

Mr Konsolos stated that the deceased was Rodotheos Skordis, a resident of Larnaca. Police are investigating whether his death was due to natural causes, although the official cause will be determined following a post-mortem examination at a later stage.

Larnaca Traffic Department officers visited the scene and conducted the necessary investigations into the accident.
