The President of the Paphos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EBE), Giorgos Mais, has called for an acceleration in the transition to digital transformation. In statements to CNA, Mr. Mais noted that to support the activities of the business sector and improve services offered to citizens, it is essential to complete the digital transformation and related reforms.
Despite efforts made thus far, Mr. Mais stated, Cyprus remains far from the desired levels. For this reason, he called on the government to take all necessary steps without further delay to usher Cyprus into the digital age.
The Paphos Chamber is also requesting the immediate implementation of reforms and new regulations to facilitate interactions between the state and citizens. He continued by saying that any changes and reforms should be well-planned, ensuring functionality and efficiency to the greatest extent possible. The reform in local government is an example of what we mean, he added.
He also pointed out that with the adoption of these changes, public finances would benefit, as there would be less need for the constant hiring of new public sector employees, and the economy’s growth rate would increase, resulting in a corresponding rise in public revenue, he concluded.
