Today (22 January), family, friends, and a multitude of admirers bid farewell to the legendary folk singer Kaiti Grey. From 12 noon, Grey’s body had been lying in state at the New Smyrni Cemetery, where her funeral took place at 3 PM.
Kaiti Grey passed away a few days ago at the age of 100, leaving behind a significant void and immense sorrow for those who knew her and loved her music.
Among the first to arrive at the New Smyrni Cemetery were Sofia Vossou and journalist Nikos Nikolizas, who had been a close friend of the singer for many years. Nikolizas was visibly moved and unable to hold back his tears.
Also present were members of the Stelios Kazantzidis Friends’ Association, who travelled from Evia to attend the funeral of the great singer. They even wrote a poem to bid her farewell.
Fulfilling her wishes, her friends and colleagues will perform two of her favourite songs, “To Vouno” and “Xena Cheria”, during the funeral.
