Elderly man dies in Kato Pyrgos car accident

Date:

Another tragedy has struck Cyprus roads, as 85-year-old Spiros Zampas from Kato Pyrgos lost his life in a car accident on Tuesday.

According to police, the incident happened after Zampas left his home around 7:00 in the morning. When his relatives could not reach him, he was reported missing to the authorities at around 4:45 in the afternoon.

At approximately 8:15 that evening, he was found dead inside his car, which had plunged into a ravine about 200 metres from a rural dirt road. He was taken by ambulance to the Kato Pyrgos Health Centre, where a doctor confirmed his death.

Initial findings suggest that Zampas lost control of his vehicle under circumstances still under investigation, causing the car to fall into the ravine.

The Morphou Traffic Department is continuing its inquiries into the Kato Pyrgos car accident.
