A 41-year-old British woman was arrested in Germany after causing a disruptive incident on a Jet2 flight from Manchester to Larnaca. The flight had to be diverted to Cologne/Bonn Airport due to her aggressive behaviour.
According to the Daily Express, the woman, who was heavily intoxicated, attacked fellow passengers and cabin crew with punches and kicks, while also shouting abuse and making threats. The situation escalated to the point where the pilot decided to make an emergency landing in Germany, where she was taken into custody by German police. Authorities stated she was held to sober up and is expected to be deported.
German officials highlighted the risks of consuming alcohol before and during flights, stressing that even small amounts can have stronger effects at high altitude and may compromise the safety of passengers and crew.
Passengers faced further disruption as the aircraft was unable to resume its journey due to a technical fault. A replacement plane had to be arranged.
The incident comes shortly after a similar case in Spain, where a drunk British couple on an EasyJet flight to Alicante reportedly locked themselves in the lavatories and threatened to have sex mid-air, shocking fellow passengers.
Jet2 has not responded to requests for comment on the matter.
