The Cyprus Police is mourning the untimely and premature loss of one of its most esteemed members- as well as a friend and colleague- Deputy Police Superintendent B’ Charalambos Zachariou.
In a statement, the Police said:
“Charalambos Zachariou passed away today, 2 May 2025, at the age of 53, leaving behind a wife and three children. He was born on 22 April 1972 and was a resident of Aradippou.
He joined the Police on 3 January 1994 and rose through the ranks to the position of Deputy Police Superintendent B’ on 31 August 2021. He served in various departments, with a particularly notable contribution to the Larnaca Criminal Investigation Department. From 22 July 2024 until today, he held the position of Police Director of Larnaca.
Over the course of his 31-year career, he dedicated nearly all of his service to frontline efforts in crime prevention and enforcement. Throughout his long tenure, he received commendations and rewards—both moral and material—for his outstanding work in solving serious criminal cases.
The leadership of the Police and the entire force extend their deepest and sincerest condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.

Due to the death of our member, Deputy Police Superintendent B’ Charalambos Zachariou, the ceremony in honour of the Police Patron Saint, Saint Irene- scheduled for Monday, 5 May 2025, in the courtyard of Police Headquarters- has been cancelled.
