Dead dolphin discovered on beach

Concern was caused on Friday morning after a dead dolphin was found washed ashore on Faros beach. The animal was spotted by citizens who were in the area and immediately informed the competent authorities.

Samples taken for examination

Officers from the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research arrived at the scene and collected samples from the marine mammal. The samples will be sent for specialised laboratory tests to determine the exact cause of death.

Removal according to protocol

Municipal workers undertook the removal of the dolphin from the beach so it could be transferred to a licensed facility, in accordance with the required procedures.

Awaiting results

Authorities are expected to provide further information once the examinations are completed. The incident once again highlights the importance of protecting marine life and monitoring environmental conditions.
