Dana Eden, executive producer of the hit Apple TV spy thriller Tehran, was found dead in an Athens hotel on Sunday, Greek police confirmed.
Circumstances of death
The 52-year-old Israeli was in Greece filming the fourth season of the series, according to state broadcaster Kan. Police launched an investigation after a relative made several unsuccessful attempts to reach her.
The cause of death has not been officially confirmed, but authorities are treating the case as a suspected suicide based on evidence and witness testimonies.
Production company statement
International production company Donna and Shula Productions released a statement expressing sorrow over Eden’s passing and dismissing any “unfounded” rumours suggesting a criminal or politically motivated death.
“This is a moment of great sorrow for the family, friends, and colleagues,” the statement read. “The production company wishes to clarify that rumours regarding a criminal or nationalistic-related death are not true and are unfounded.” It also urged the media and public to avoid publishing unverified claims.
