Low pressure and cold air mass affect the island
A weather warning is in effect as low pressure combined with a cold front continues to affect the region, bringing unstable conditions, rainfall, thunderstorms, and snowfall in mountainous areas. The phenomena are expected to be locally intense, accompanied by strong to gale-force winds and a noticeable drop in temperatures, which will remain below seasonal averages over the coming days.
Today’s weather
Today will be mostly cloudy, with local rain, isolated thunderstorms and snowfall on the highest mountain peaks expected initially. Hail may occur during thunderstorms. By the afternoon, conditions will gradually weaken, with local rain or isolated thunderstorms mainly affecting western and northern areas. In the highest mountains, sleet or snow is possible.
Winds will blow southwesterly to westerly, moderate to strong at 4–5 Beaufort inland and in mountainous areas, while along the coast they will be very strong at 6 Beaufort and at times gale-force, reaching 7 Beaufort. The sea will be rough to very rough.
Temperatures will rise to around 15°C inland and along the coast, and to about 4°C in the highest mountainous areas.
