The Cyprus weather forecast indicates periods of sunshine alternating with increased cloud cover today, with isolated rain possible mainly in mountainous areas and regions south of Troodos after midday, according to the Meteorology Department.
Winds will initially blow northwesterly to northeasterly before gradually turning mainly northeasterly to southeasterly, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be calm to slightly rough. Temperatures are expected to rise to around 18°C inland, 19°C along the coasts and about 8°C in the higher mountains.
Tonight, the weather will be mostly clear, although increased cloud cover is expected locally, particularly in coastal areas. Winds will become light downslope at around 3 Beaufort, while the sea will remain calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will drop to around 8°C inland, 10°C along the coasts and 2°C in the higher mountains, where frost may form locally.
Rain and isolated storms from Saturday to Monday
On Saturday, locally increased cloud cover will appear at times, with isolated rain possible in mountainous and western areas.
Sunday will be partly cloudy, with isolated rain or even an isolated thunderstorm expected in western, northern and mountainous regions, mainly after midday. During the evening, isolated rain or storms may affect western, northern and southern coastal areas.
On Monday, local rain and isolated thunderstorms are forecast across the island.
Slight temperature drop expected on Monday
Temperatures are not expected to change significantly until Sunday, remaining close to seasonal averages. A slight drop in temperatures is forecast for Monday as unsettled weather continues.
