Cloudy conditions across the island today
Today’s weather will be partly cloudy, becoming mainly cloudy at times, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Northeast to southeast winds will blow at light to moderate strength, 3 to 4 Beaufort, while locally they may strengthen to 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be up to rough.
Temperatures will reach around 17°C inland, approximately 19°C along the coast and about 10°C in the higher mountainous areas.
Tonight brings isolated rain and frost
Tonight, locally increased cloud cover will appear at intervals and may bring isolated rain, mainly to western and northern areas.
Winds will initially blow from the east to southeast at 3 to 4 Beaufort, before turning northwest to northeast later in the night at similar strength. The sea will remain up to rough.
Temperatures will drop to around 7°C inland, about 10°C on the southern and eastern coasts, around 12°C on the western and northern coasts and close to 2°C in the higher mountains, where frost is expected.
Rain and storms expected on Tuesday
On Tuesday, mainly cloudy conditions will prevail, with isolated showers developing at intervals. During the evening, local rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected.
Snow or sleet is expected to fall in the higher mountainous areas.
Unstable conditions continue midweek
On Wednesday, the weather will turn partly cloudy at times, while isolated showers and thunderstorms may develop. Snow or sleet will continue to affect higher mountain regions.
On Thursday, mainly cloudy conditions will persist, with the possibility of isolated showers.
Temperatures and snow levels
Temperatures will record a slight drop until Wednesday and will remain close to seasonal averages. On Thursday, no significant change is expected.
At the time the forecast was issued, snow depth at Chionistra measured 17 centimetres.
