Cyprus price levels reach 89% of EU average in 2025

Cyprus price levels reached 89% of the European Union average for household final consumption expenditure in 2025, according to figures published by Eurostat.

The data showed significant variations across EU member states, with price levels ranging from 140% of the EU average in Denmark to 63% in Bulgaria.

After Denmark, the highest price levels were recorded in Ireland at 136% and Luxembourg at 132%. The lowest levels after Bulgaria were seen in Romania at 65% and Poland at 73%.

Cyprus close to EU average in food prices

According to Eurostat, large differences continue to exist in the prices of essential goods and services among EU countries.

In the food and non-alcoholic beverages category, which showed the smallest differences across the bloc, Cyprus was almost exactly in line with the EU average, recording a price index of 100.1%.

The highest food price levels were recorded in Luxembourg at 122% of the EU average, while Romania had the lowest at 80%.

Education prices remain significantly higher

In restaurant and accommodation services, Cyprus recorded price levels at 85.2% of the EU average, while healthcare stood at 94.1%.

Housing-related costs, including water, electricity, gas and other fuels, reached 87% of the EU average.

Price levels in Cyprus were particularly high in education, where costs reached 137.5% of the EU average. Eurostat noted that education remained the category with the widest differences among member states, with Luxembourg recording the highest level at 334% of the EU average and Romania the lowest at 42%.
