The Cyprus Police carried out intensified operations last night, targeting key urban areas to prevent serious crimes, maintain public order, and boost citizens’ sense of safety.
Arrests and inspections
As a result of these preventive operations, seven individuals were arrested for offences including illegal possession of firearms, unlawful stay in the Republic of Cyprus, and identity fraud.
During the night, police stopped and checked 294 drivers and passengers. In parallel, 18 premises were inspected for signs of criminal activity, resulting in three reports.
Traffic enforcement
Traffic checks led to 125 citations for various violations, including five cases under further investigation. Notably, 49 drivers were fined for speeding, and four vehicles were impounded during the operations.
Ongoing safety measures
The coordinated policing operations continue daily, with enhanced presence, targeted inspections, and immediate intervention. Authorities emphasise that these measures aim to protect citizens, maintain public order, and increase the overall sense of security.
