Cyprus police operations lead to multiple arrests

Date:

Cyprus police continued their targeted preventive operations last night across all districts, with reinforced presence in key urban areas to prevent serious crimes, protect citizens, and maintain public order.

Arrests and detentions

During the operations, authorities arrested three individuals. In Nicosia, a 28-year-old was arrested for assaulting a police officer, public intoxication, and causing public disturbance, while another person was detained for illegal residence in Cyprus. In Larnaca, a 34-year-old was arrested for knife possession and unlawful ownership of property.

Vehicle and property checks

Throughout the night, police stopped and checked over 370 vehicles and questioned more than 470 individuals inside them. Additionally, officers conducted 32 inspections of premises to prevent and suppress unlawful behaviour, resulting in two citations related to operational licensing violations.

Traffic enforcement and violations

Traffic officers issued 168 citations for various road offences, including five for driving under the influence of alcohol. Seven vehicles were impounded during investigations into traffic-related crimes.

Ongoing preventive strategy

These operations are part of a broad, continuous, and intensifying preventive strategy by the Cyprus Police. The plan involves heightened patrols, targeted inspections, and rapid operational responses across all districts, aiming to reduce crime and strengthen public safety.
