Cyprus Police launch week-long road safety campaign

Date:

Cyprus Police are launching a road safety campaign from 16 to 22 September 2026 as part of ROADPOL Safety Days 2026 and European Mobility Week, with a particular focus on pedestrians and other vulnerable road users.

The campaign is being held simultaneously across Europe in cooperation with the European Traffic Police Network ROADPOL. It aims to prevent road collisions and strengthen road safety awareness.

Focus on pedestrian safety

Particular attention will be given to pedestrians and behaviours that can increase the risk of road collisions.

These include mobile phone use and distraction, unsafe road crossings, failure to wear visible clothing at night, and the use of alcohol or drugs.

Awareness activities

Throughout the week, Police will also organise information and awareness activities at schools and with organised groups.

The campaign will promote the use of reflective equipment by vulnerable road users, particularly to improve visibility and safety during hours of darkness.
