Cyprus National Guard drones boost artillery precision

Date:

Yesterday’s ceremony holds special significance for the National Guard, confirming Cyprus’s ability to produce technologically advanced, internationally competitive solutions, stated Lieutenant General Emmanuel Theodorou.

Speaking at the handover of two Poseidon H10 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and a command-control system donated by SWARMLY LTD at Patroklos Kokkinos Camp in Mosfiloti, the Chief expressed great joy over the systems’ integration.

He extended warm thanks to the company’s management and staff for this valuable contribution, a key investment in national security and proof of domestic defence production potential and Cypriot defence industry prospects.

Poseidon H10 operational edge

The Poseidon UAV already performs in real conditions on Ukraine’s front lines, meeting demands of modern, high-intensity operations.

In contemporary warfare, artillery power stems not just from calibre or range but from rapid, precise targeting and real-time intelligence access. Integrating Poseidon into the Artillery Observation Battery enhances exactly this capability.

The Chief stressed Cyprus’s role in the innovation and defence technology ecosystem, with public and private entities contributing through high-value small actions to Guard improvement.

Commitment to maximum utilisation

The systems will maximise enhancement of Artillery Command and overall National Guard operational effectiveness.

Lieutenant Colonel Costas Pavlidis read the daily order, calling the event substantive symbolism reflecting contribution, memory, respect, and the Guard’s, especially Artillery’s, mission.

The UAV and control vehicle symbolise duty, discipline, self-sacrifice, and devotion characterising Guard personnel serving the homeland devotedly.

Enhancements to readiness and trust

The National Guard stands as a pillar of security, stability, and national dignity. This gift, like every new weapons system, boosts morale, operational readiness, Guard credibility, and societal trust in its independence and freedom mission.

“We accept this gift, commit to safeguard, showcase, and utilise it now and future, guided by our values. History teaches nothing is given; freedom, peace, security demand constant vigilance, duty devotion, high responsibility,” Pavlidis stated.

Artillery will employ this military gift with characteristic decisiveness and responsibility.

System specifications and ceremony

SWARMLY trained Guard personnel, earning thanks.

Attendees included Defence Committee and Ministry members; a system flyover occurred.

The Cypriot-made system features vertical take-off/landing, 50km max range, day/night targeting, and artillery fire corrections.
