The Cyprus issue and broader European policy matters were discussed during a meeting in Athens between the President of the House of Representatives, Annita Demetriou, and Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis.
Focus on coordination between Cyprus and Greece
Following the meeting, Demetriou said that the agenda covered shared challenges faced by both countries and the need for coordinated action in defending common principles and values.
She stressed that Cyprus and Greece must continue to act in unity, particularly at a time of increased regional and international pressures.
The discussions formed part of ongoing political coordination between Nicosia and Athens on key foreign policy issues.
Diplomatic approach to regional challenges
Responding to questions on reports in the Turkish press regarding developments on the Cyprus issue, Demetriou said attention should remain on actions taken by the Greek Cypriot side to support a genuine resumption of negotiations.
She reiterated that Cyprus and Greece remain committed to efforts aimed at restarting talks, describing this as the only viable path forward.

Demetriou also noted that the situation is closely linked to broader Greek-Turkish relations and the positions of Ankara.
She said both sides had discussed diplomatic steps and emphasised continued coordination between Cyprus and Greece in shaping their approach.
