Leaders gather for 5th high-level meeting

A trilateral summit is taking place on Wednesday in Amman, Jordan, bringing together Cyprus, Greece and Jordan at head-of-state level.

Nikos Christodoulides is attending the meeting, alongside Abdullah II of Jordan and Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

The President of the Republic departed earlier on Wednesday morning for the Jordanian capital to participate in the 5th Trilateral Summit. As part of his visit, Christodoulides will also hold bilateral meetings with King Abdullah II and the Crown Prince of Jordan.

According to Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis, discussions will focus on strengthening bilateral relations, regional coordination and broader Middle East developments.

Regional cooperation on the agenda

During the Cyprus trilateral summit, leaders will review the implementation of existing cooperation frameworks across various sectors discussed in previous meetings.

They will also examine EU–Jordan relations, the deepening of regional cooperation and current geopolitical developments in the wider region.

Letymbiotis stressed that discussions on EU–Jordan relations carry particular importance, highlighting Cyprus’s role as a bridge between the European Union and the wider Middle East.

Strategic role for Cyprus

The Government described the trilateral summit as a clear confirmation of Cyprus’s strategic choice to invest in regional cooperation formats with continuity and political substance.

It added that through such mechanisms, Cyprus strengthens its role as a reliable partner of the European Union in the wider region and contributes to stability in both the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East.

Delegation accompanying President

The President is accompanied by Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos, Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis, Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Raouna, Director of the Presidential Diplomatic Office Doros Venezis, and other officials.
