A seasonal low-pressure system is affecting the area, while an unstable air mass is expected to arrive from Friday.
Today, the weather will be mainly clear, although increased cloud cover will develop at times. Isolated showers are possible in the afternoon, mainly in mountainous areas.
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow warning for high temperatures, which will be in effect from 13:00 until 15:30.
Winds will initially be variable and light at 3 Beaufort, gradually becoming southwesterly to northwesterly at 3 to 4 Beaufort. Winds may temporarily reach 5 Beaufort along the southern coast.
The sea will be slightly rough.
Temperatures will reach 40°C inland, 31°C on the west coast, around 34°C on other coastal areas and 30°C in the highest mountains.
Clear skies overnight
Tonight, the weather will remain mainly clear, although locally increased low cloud will develop.
Winds will gradually become northwesterly to northeasterly, while along the northern coast they will become southeasterly at 3 Beaufort.
The sea will be calm to slightly rough.
Temperatures will fall to 22°C inland, around 24°C on the coast and 20°C in the highest mountains.
Showers and thunderstorms from Friday
On Thursday, the weather will remain mainly clear, with locally increased cloud at times. Isolated afternoon showers are possible, mainly in the mountains.
On Friday and Saturday, the weather will initially be mainly clear. However, increased cloud will develop locally in the afternoon, bringing isolated showers and thunderstorms, mainly in mountainous and inland areas.
The weather will see no significant temperature change on Thursday. Temperatures will fall on Friday and Saturday, bringing them closer to seasonal averages.
