The British Bases have announced that controlled small-scale explosions will take place at the Akrotiri base between 18 and 20 May.

According to the official notice, the activities will occur daily between 09:00 and 17:00 as part of routine operational work.

No cause for concern

Authorities stressed that the explosions are planned and controlled, urging the public not to be alarmed if loud noises are heard during the specified hours.

The announcement stated that the activity forms part of standard procedures and that there is no reason for concern.

Operations at Akrotiri base

The controlled activity will take place within the area of the RAF Akrotiri, one of the United Kingdom’s sovereign base areas in Cyprus.

Officials thanked the public for their understanding and cooperation.
