Contact details of on-call GP services for upcoming weekends

Date:

The Health Insurance Organisation (HIO) has announced the contact details for the General Practitioner (GP) On-Call Services per district for the weekends of 7-8, 14-15, and 21-22 November 2024.

According to the announcement, the operating hours of the On-Call Services (OCS) on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays are from 11:00 to 17:00. Additionally, the telephone centre will start operating 30 minutes before the opening of the OCS.

It is noted that these contact details for the GP On-Call Services will be updated periodically and posted on the GHS website www.gesy.org.cy as well as on the official social media accounts of the HIO.

The GP On-Call Services provide care for adults and children who are GHS beneficiaries during weekends and public holidays. They cater to urgent health issues such as the acute onset of worrying symptoms, sudden and intense pain, worsening symptoms of severe chronic illness, and high fever accompanied by other symptoms.

Beneficiaries are reminded not to use GP On-Call Services for pre-existing medical conditions, repeat prescriptions, referrals to other GHS services, or when they lack time to visit their personal doctor.

The services operate strictly by appointment. Beneficiaries can contact the GP On-Call Services in their district by phone during operating hours. Following an assessment of the health issue, an appointment will be arranged for the same day and within the service hours. For efficient service, beneficiaries are advised that appointments are mandatory.
