Many citizens in Paphos who employ foreign domestic workers have raised complaints following recent changes to the computerised system used for social insurance payments.
Citizens said that until recently, the process of paying social insurance contributions for domestic workers was completed without problems.
However, in recent weeks, they have reportedly been unable to complete the process because the system stops them from proceeding with the payment of outstanding contributions.
Employers have also expressed concern that they could face additional late-payment charges, despite continuing to try to meet their obligations within the required deadlines.
Ariadne registration now required
A Social Insurance official stated that following the recent changes, citizens must now be connected to the Ariadne system in order to pay social insurance contributions for these workers.
Those who have not registered with Ariadne can no longer complete the process, the official said.
The source estimated that the citizens who raised complaints had likely not yet completed their registration with the Ariadne system.
