The Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry, George Papanastasiou, travelled to Doha, where he represents the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, at the Qatar Economic Forum, an international business and investment conference taking place from 20 to 22 May 2025.
The Ministry of Energy said in a press release that on the sidelines of today’s opening of the conference, Papanastasiou had a meeting this morning with the Minister of Commerce and Industry of Qatar, Sheikh Faisal Thani Al Thani, with whom he discussed the ways and prospects for promoting trade and investment relations between Cyprus and Qatar.
Among other things, the possibility of jointly promoting initiatives to encourage cooperation between the business communities of the two countries was discussed, with the Minister of Commerce informing his counterpart of the Ministry’s intention to organise, through the Cyprus Trade Centre in Dubai, a business mission to Qatar in the second half of 2025, it added.
On Wednesday, Papanastasiou is scheduled to have a meeting with the leadership of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry and, subsequently, with the leadership of the Qatari Businessmen Association.
The Minister of Commerce returns to Cyprus on Thursday, 22 May 2025.
