Cocaine bust leads to arrest of 36-year-old

More than three kilograms of cocaine discovered

A 36-year-old man has been arrested following a major cocaine bust carried out by the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN).

During searches of the suspect’s home and vehicle, officers located and confiscated:

  • Two packages containing cocaine with a total gross weight of 2.22kg
  • Thirty nylon packages containing cocaine with a total gross weight of 977g
  • One additional package containing cocaine weighing 31g
  • €4,000 in cash
  • One precision scale

Fireworks and weapon also seized

Police also seized:

  • Eight flares
  • Two packages containing eight fireworks each
  • Five packages containing five fireworks each
  • One hunting shotgun
  • Twenty-four limesticks

According to police, the large quantity of cocaine was carefully concealed and was discovered following methodical searches by YKAN officers and an assessment of the suspect’s behaviour during the operation.

Motorcycles and vehicle examined

During the search, officers also located and took possession of two motorcycles that did not display registration numbers, as well as a vehicle.

Investigation continues

The 36-year-old was arrested for offences committed in flagrante delicto and was taken to the YKAN Larnaca offices, where he was questioned in writing before being remanded in custody.

YKAN, in cooperation with Kofinou Police Station, is continuing investigations.
