Cloudy conditions with occasional dust

A weak high-pressure system currently affects Cyprus, while a weak low-pressure system is expected to arrive tomorrow. Light dust will intermittently linger in the atmosphere.

Today’s weather: cloudy and windy

Today, skies will be mostly cloudy with medium to high clouds. Northeasterly to southeasterly winds will initially be light to moderate (3–4 Beaufort) but will strengthen to moderate to strong (4–5 Beaufort), reaching very strong gusts (5–6 Beaufort) along the coasts in the afternoon.

The sea will be generally rough, with very rough conditions in the southwest, west, and north. Temperatures will reach around 12°C inland, 15°C along the coasts, and 4°C in the higher mountains.

Tonight: isolated rain and snow in highlands

Tonight, skies remain mostly cloudy with isolated rain. Snow or sleet is possible on the highest peaks of Troodos. Winds will continue moderate to strong (4–5 Beaufort), occasionally very strong along the coasts (5–6 Beaufort), reaching stormy levels (6–7 Beaufort) in the southwest, west, and north coastal areas later.

Sea conditions will be rough to very rough in the south and east, and rough in the west and north. Temperatures will drop to around 8°C inland, 14°C on the western coasts, 12°C on other coasts, and 2°C in the high mountains, where localized frost may occur.

Thursday and Friday: rain and possible thunderstorms

Thursday weather will be mostly cloudy with local rain, possibly accompanied by thunderstorms. Snow or sleet may fall on Troodos peaks.

Friday will remain mostly cloudy, with isolated rain and the possibility of isolated thunderstorms. Snow or sleet may continue in the highlands.

Saturday outlook: continued clouds and snow in mountains

Saturday is expected to remain mostly cloudy with local rain and isolated thunderstorms. Snow or sleet is likely in the higher mountain areas. Temperatures will gradually rise until Friday, reaching near seasonal averages, with little change expected on Saturday.

Snow depth at Chionistra currently stands at 22 cm.
