Christodoulides and Erhürman to meet on August 26 under UN auspices

Date:

President Nikos Christodoulides and Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhürman will meet on Wednesday, 26 August 2026, at 4 pm under the auspices of the United Nations.

The meeting was arranged following consultations between the negotiators representing the two sides.

Preparation for renewed negotiations

The Cyprus talks meeting is part of the steps agreed during the recent visit to Cyprus by UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

The discussions are aimed at preparing the ground for a new expanded conference, with the goal of restarting substantive negotiations for a comprehensive settlement of the Cyprus issue.

The process is expected to continue from where negotiations previously ended, based on the agreed framework and the convergences achieved so far.
